The Feist-Weiller Cancer Center offers caring, healing treatment for all cancer patients, not just those from the Ark-La-Tex. More and more patients come from every parish in Louisiana. Today, the oncology practice at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center and the oncology training program for new cancer specialists are the largest in Louisiana.
Highly specialized physicians at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center offer individualized treatments for every cancer patient. We accept both professional and self referrals. If you already have been diagnosed with cancer by your primary care physician, simply ask them to refer you to our team of physicians or call 1-866-578-3922 yourself. Get a referral form for your primary care physican, if necessary.
Private patients are welcome by appointment. If you suspect you have an illness, call 1-866-578-3922. You will be asked a few questions about your condition and treated accordingly.
If you recently were diagnosed with cancer and would like a second opinion, call 318-813-1200.
Cancer treatment usually requires multiple treatments. Attending all appointments is necessary for good results. Please be on time for your appointment.
The Admitting office is conveniently located on the first floor of the hospital at the K-Wing entrance. The Admitting staff will meet with you to collect information about you for our records. Your room assignment will be based on your medical needs and bed availability on the day of your admission. Financial counseling is available for assistance with insurance and billing questions.
Hematology/Oncology patients register for scheduled appointments in the outpatient cancer treatment center located between Shriner's Hospital and the Biomedical Research Institute.
Adult patients please register at the desk on the first floor at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled appointment.
Pediatric patients register in the St. Jude Affiliate Clinic on the first floor.
Feist-Weiller Cancer Center treats patients from any state, but non-Louisiana residents may be required to pay a $250 deposit. Louisiana Medicaid and Medicaid plans from some other states exempt this deposit
An identification bracelet will be placed on your arm or leg when you are admitted to the hospital. The bracelet gives our staff important information that will help them care for you. Please do not remove the bracelet during your stay.
All patients need to bring proof of residency, a picture ID, LSU patient ID card if available, medical insurance information and a co-payment for treatment. Please bring the following items with you to the hospital when you are admitted:
You may wish to bring personal items such as sleep wear, a robe, a pair of slippers, deodorant, toothpaste, a toothbrush, and a brush or comb. These things may make you feel more comfortable during your stay. Maternity patients should also bring clothes for the baby to wear home and a car seat.
Medicine should not be brought to the hospital unless your doctor has asked you to bring it. Please do not bring electrical appliances like heaters, coffee pots, toasters or televisions. Money, jewelry and other valuables also should be left at home. The hospital will not be responsible for lost or damaged items.
