Ray A. Barlow Scientific Symposium Announcement

Save the Date and Call for Abstracts

The Barlow Symposium entitled “Prostate Cancer” will be held this year on Friday May 8, 2015. We are pleased to announce that two keynote speakers.

Dr Robert J. Matusik,PhD, William L. Bray Professor and Director of Urologic Surgery Research at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN  and Dr Allen C. Gao, MD, PhD, Ralph de Vere White Professor and Director of Urologic Research at University of California, Davis, have accepted our invitation to present at the symposium.

In addition there will be presentations by local experts and the winners of Jason A. Cardelli award.   

Instructions for Preparation of Abstracts
 and Posters for the 2015 Barlow Symposium

  1. All students, postdoctoral fellows and Faculty may submit an abstract for the Barlow Symposium. Abstracts will be printed a book that will be distributed for the Symposium. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS APRIL 24, 2015.
  2. Abstracts covering any Cancer or non-Cancer area of research are acceptable.
  3. Abstracts must fit on one page and have margins of a least 1-inch on the sides, top and bottom.
  4. Begin each abstract with a title followed by the authors who have contributed to the work, and finally the body of the text. The body of the text should include a short introduction, a statement of the problem, a brief description of the methods used, and the results and conclusions.
  5. Send the abstract as an attachment in Microsoft Word to Dr. Hari Koul, Deputy Director FWCC at (Kstron@lsuhsc.edu)
  6. Prepare your poster to fit on a 4 foot by 5 foot space poster board.
  7. Posters should be mounted by Noon on Thursday May 7, 2015. Judging will be that afternoon.
  8. Please indicate if you want to be a contestant to be selected as the recipient of the Jason A. Cardelli Award for Excellence in Cancer Research. If selected you will present a short 10 minute presentation on Friday, May 8 and will receive a cash award of $250.00. This contest is open to graduate students, medical students, residents and postdocs only.
  9. Prepare your poster to fit on a 4 foot by 5 foot space poster board.
  10. Posters should be mounted by Noon on Thursday May 7, 2015. Judging will be that afternoon.
