Family Health Day 2017 On February 4, 2017, over 300 people joined the faculty, staff, and volunteers of FWCC to celebrate World Cancer Day with free screenings, wellness and prevention seminars, free food, and great prizes. FWCC would like to thank everyone who helped to make our first every Family Health Day a success!

Be a Scientist for a Day 7 Year Old Collier Franklin joins Dr. Jim Cardelli in his lab to study how breast and prostate cancer progresses. The Be a Scientist for a Day opportunity was a silent auction package in the 2014 Life Savers Ball: Jeans and Jerseys. Dr. Cardelli is a professor of Microbiology at LSU Health Shreveport, a Feist-Weiller Cancer Center researcher, and the Director of the Innovative North Louisiana Experimental Therapeutics Program (INLET), which investigates new uses for drugs through partnerships with Louisiana Tech, the University of New Orleans, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Louisiana State University in Shreveport, LSU Health New Orleans, LSU Health Shreveport, and the Southern Research Institute.
Be the Match Drive On Friday, January 9, 2015, Feist-Weiller Cancer Center hosted a Be The Match donor registration event in honor of our patient Billy Bennett. Mr. Bennett is 31 years old, a father of two, and has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. His only hope for a cure is a stem cell transplant. Unfortunately, like over 70% of patients, none of Billy's family is a match to donate stem cells, so he is looking to the general public to find a donor
2014 Arts in Medicine Artbreak Winners Each year, Feist-Weiller Cancer Center allows students to submit their original artwork to our Arts in Medicine program's community outreach. These are the paintings chosen by Dr. Gary Burton and his committee. The winning paintings are framed and hung in Feist-Weiller Cancer Center's patient rooms in both the clinics and in the inpatient rooms on the 6th floor of University Health Oncology Wing and the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. Congratulations to all of the 2014 winners!
