Our Mission, Our Values
Mission
Feist-Weiller Cancer Center works to educate regional health care providers and residents about the prevention, the treatment and the science of cancer; to treat patients with cutting-edge treatment methods, which includes access to national cancer clinical trials; and to engage in multidisciplinary cancer research of those cancers prominent in the state of Louisiana.
To achieve this mission, Feist-Weiller Cancer Center practitioners strive to achieve goals that include:
- The continued mission of developing strategies to combat those cancers that have a particularly high prevalence and have high mortality rates in Louisiana, and/or have a major disparity in mortality between African-Americans and Caucasians;
- The development of research and treatment programs that directly combat tobacco carcinogenesis;
- Being the entity that makes the latest research and treatment strategies in cancer available to the population we serve.
Values
Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is dedicated to meeting its obligation to the citizens of Louisiana through excellence in medical care, medical education and public service by:
- Providing our adult and pediatric patients the most advanced cancer care;
- Supplying our community with cancer sreenings and education materials for prevention;
- Conducting laboratory research and clinical trials to discover better methods of preventing and treating cancer;
- Educating and training our oncology fellows and community physicians about the most modern cancer treatments so all patients will receive the best possible cancer care.
Every citizen in our community is provided cancer screenings, diagnosis and treatment services, regardless of their ability to pay.
