About Us: Feist-Weiller Cancer Center
Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is part of the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Center is an academic facility with many different board certified specialists that work together to provide comprehensive cancer care. Oncologists, hematologists, surgeons, radiologists, therapists, and basic science researchers cooperate to offer preeminent cancer research, cancer prevention programs, and excellent treatment to cancer patients.
Medical oncologists and hematologists at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center are board certified in internal medicine, then specially trained and certified in medical oncology (cancer medicine), hematology (blood disorders), or both. Surgeons and radiologists that specialize in every disorder work with the the oncologists and hematologists at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center.
Among the signature strengths at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is translational cancer research. Faculty work cooperatively to take clinical problems from the bedside to the research laboratory where solutions are generated that come back to the bedside.
Patient care at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is comprehensive and unique. Through LSU Health Sciences Center's partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Feist-Weiller Cancer Center includes a St. Jude outpatient affiliate clinic where children are treated according to detailed St. Jude protocols. In addition, Feist-Weiller Cancer Center patients have opportunities to participate in clinical trials with the newest treatments to combat cancer. Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is humbled by the number of patients who, by their own choice, take part in experimental therapies. The Center is a leading enroller for numerous clinical trials in the Southwest Oncology Group.

Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is recognized as a Louisiana Center for Excellence in Cancer Care, accredited by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer. Feist-Weiller Cancer Center contains one of five St. Jude Affiliate Clinics for pediatric cancers in the nation. Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is a member of the Association of Community Cancer Centers, American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the Association of Cancer Executives, and the Louisiana Cancer Control Partnership. Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is home to an accredited ACGME Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program.
Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is a NCI funded Minority Based Community Cancer Outreach Program (MB-CCOP) affiliated with the Southwest Oncology Group, Cancer Trials Support Unit, Fox Chase Cancer Center CCOP, Cancer Center of Wake Forest University CCOP, and H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center CCOP.
